Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day is Thursday, May 5. Access to mental health services can be a challenge for families with young children. This year’s theme, “Finding Help. Finding Hope” will focus on how communities can improve access to mental health services and supports for children with mental disorders and their families. You can take action to bring awareness to the importance of infant and early childhood mental health in several ways:
- Use the hashtag #WellnessWed and join a Twitter chat on Wednesday, May 4 from 10 – 11 am AKST to talk and ask questions about infant and early childhood mental health.
- Use the hastag #ChildCareNow on Twitter to voice your support for increased investments in child care on Thursday, May 5 from 10 – 11 am. Be sure to include the Twitter handles for Alaska’s Senators @lisamurkowski and @SenDanSullivan, and Alaska’s Representative @repdonyoung.
- Watch SAMHSA’s Awareness Day event live via webcast on Thursday, May 5 at 3 pm AKST and share your questions and ideas on Twitter with the hashtag #HeroesofHope.
