As of June 18, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends children ages 6 months and older get vaccinated against COVID-19. The decision was made after reviewing data from clinical trials involving thousands of children, confirming the vaccine’s safety and effectiveness.
Benefits of the COVID-19 Vaccine for Children
Per the CDC, the vaccine is the best way to protect children from becoming severely ill or having long-lasting health impacts due to COVID-19. Vaccines work with the immune system so it is ready to fight a virus if exposed.
Additional benefits of children getting vaccinated include:
- Protecting friends, family and the greater community.
- Increased family confidence for children participating in childcare, school, and other activities.
