The Alaska Child Care Program Office recently released its 2023 Alaska Child Care Market Price Survey Report.
A market price survey collects current provider prices for child care and qualitative information to evaluate states’ child care assistance subsidy rates and to better understand states’ child care markets. The primary purpose of conducting a market price survey is to help ensure that state rates for child care assistance are high enough so families receiving child care assistance have equal access to affordable child care as families who do not receive child care assistance.
The 2023 Market Price Survey finds that the tuition rate for a typical child in Alaska is $888 per month for full time care. By age, the typical rate for infant care is $1000 per month, typical toddler care is $950 per month, pre-school care is $850 per month, and school-age care is $707 per month. The typical rate at a Licensed Home is $800 per month, and $968 at a Licensed Center.
