Alaska has one of the highest per capita rates of child abuse and neglect in the nation, but we can all work to change that. Start by wearing blue on Go Blue Day—Friday, April 6, 2018—to raise awareness of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Communities across the state are also hosting rallies on April 6 to show their support. You can participate by attending a Go Blue Day rally in your community:
- Anchorage rally, 9 a.m., Wells Fargo on Northern Lights and C Street
- Juneau rally, 12 p.m., Alaska State Capital Building – front Steps
- Mat-Su Valley rally, 9 a.m., Wells Fargo Parking lot (1701 E Parks Hwy, Wasilla)
The theme of month is “30 ways to Strengthen Families.” Throughout the month you will hear more about Strengthening Families, an evidence-based framework for preventing child abuse and neglect by focusing on family strengths. Print, display, and share the poster below from Alaska Children’s Trust with 30 ideas to strengthening a family.
