November is Military Family Appreciation Month, an opportunity to celebrate the sacrifices and contributions that military families have made \u2013 and continue to make.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Military life imposes unique demands on families, and during these difficult times, they have exhibited exceptional sacrifice, resiliency and courage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are a few ideas on how you can show your thanks this month to Alaska\u2019s 22,000 active-duty members and their families:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Ask a military family how they are doing and if you can help<\/li>
  2. Mail a \u201cThank You\u201d card to a military family, acknowledging what they\u2019ve sacrificed<\/li>
  3. Host a virtual game night<\/li>
  4. Offer to babysit, or pet sit<\/li>
  5. Cook a meal, or put together a care package<\/li>
  6. Donate miles for wounded service members and their families.<\/li>
  7. Participate in upcoming civilian\/military events at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson<\/a> in Anchorage, or Fort Wainwright<\/a> and Eielson Airforce Base<\/a> in Fairbanks<\/li>
  8. Thank them publicly on social media<\/li>
  9. Support organizations like Operation Homefront<\/a> who work with military families on long-term stability<\/li>
  10. Tell thread<\/strong> Your Story<\/a>: What are ways you show military families that you appreciate them?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
