\n\tChild Care Aware of America recently released its Child Care in America: 2016 State Fact Sheet report<\/a>, highlighting the latest data on early care & learning in each state. Access to affordable, high-quality child care plays an important role in Alaska’s infrastructure, and the data contained in these state fact sheets will help community leaders and policymakers find solutions to the challenges facing working families as well as the early care & learning workforce.<\/p>\n \n\tAlaska’s child care fact sheet contains some eye-opening data. A continuing trend shows that the need for early care & learning exceeds the availability of child care slots. In Alaska, there are 20,636 children with both parents in the workforce. In all, there are 35,981 children in working families who potentially need care.
