Or if you\u2019re in Juneau you can testify in-person.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Write out your testimony.<\/strong> Using a script helps you get your points across quickly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contact your local Legislative Information Office<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/akleg.gov\/lios.php\">http:\/\/akleg.gov\/lios.php<\/a>). They can answer questions about submitting testimony by phone or email.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Make it personal.<\/strong> Share a brief story or experience as part of your testimony.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Give some facts. <\/strong>Use a statistic or two, but be sure to mention the source.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>You can submit testimony by email.<\/strong> This is a great option if you\u2019re unable to call in during the committee hearing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sample:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My name is <em>[Full Name]<\/em> and I am calling <em>[from\/live in City]<\/em>. I am a <em>[parent, provider, business owner, etc.]<\/em> and I\u2019m speaking on behalf of <em>[myself or the organization you\u2019re representing]<\/em>. I am calling today to ask you to support <em>[give bill number]<\/em> which provides additional support to child care programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the owner of an early childcare and development center, I see the challenges within the child care sector every day. The families I serve are struggling to pay their monthly child care fees. But the fees I charge families are barely enough to pay my workers a livable wage. Public investment in child care can make a difference. The First Years Fund reports that each dollar spent on child care results in a $7 return on that investment over the long-term. Child care is essential to families, businesses and the economy. Please vote yes on this bill. I\u2019m happy to answer any questions you have.
