Honoring Early Childhood Education Professionals!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Cindy Harrington Heart & Mind Award is an annual award given to an individual who is currently working in the field of early childhood education in the state of Alaska. Cindy Harrington was one of the founding mothers of early childhood work in Alaska, as well as a member of thread\u2019s <\/strong>Board of Directors until her untimely passing in May of 2014. <\/p>\n\n\n\n This program honors Cindy\u2019s passion, strength, and professionalism by awarding an individual in early childhood education who exemplifies these characteristics. One of Cindy Harrington\u2019s strengths was recognizing individual achievement, especially when it involved overcoming barriers. The recipient of this award demonstrates the qualities Cindy herself would want to honor.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n “Cindy had an incredible capacity to love and share her energy and positivity with others. She is one of the founding mothers of early childhood work in Alaska and has been part of making a great change and progress in the field. She will be dearly missed but will be honored through her legacy and advocacy for quality early care and education.” <\/em><\/p>\nStephanie Berglund, CEO, thread<\/strong><\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n Recognition Category: Individual excellence<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Individuals who currently work \u2014 and have been employed for at least one year \u2014 in a licensed child care program in Alaska who possess some or all of Cindy Harrington\u2019s heart and mind characteristics identified below. Special consideration will be given to individuals who have overcome barriers in achieving professional growth and demonstrated generosity of spirit in helping others. thread <\/strong>staff are not eligible to receive this award.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n The recipient is honored during a special award ceremony and receives the Cindy Harrington Heart & Mind Award and a monetary award of $1,000. They will also be featured on thread\u2019s<\/strong> website and in thread\u2019s <\/strong>e-newsletter, as well as in a press release to the media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nominees should be individuals currently employed for at least one year in a licensed child care program in Alaska who exhibit the following characteristics as demonstrated through their work with young children:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nominations can be made by anyone familiar with the nominee\u2019s contribution to the early childhood education field. All nominations forms must be fully completed at the time of submissions to be considered. Selections will be made by the awards committee and based solely on the nomination submitted.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n Nominate an early childhood educator for the Cindy Harrington Heart & Mind Award! \n
