This bill passed the House on July 29, 2020. Sent to U.S. Senate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-accordion gb-block-accordion\"><details><summary class=\"gb-accordion-title\"><strong>State <\/strong><\/summary><div class=\"gb-accordion-text\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2024<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>2024 thread Endorsed Bills<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SB189, which includes the landmark Child Care Bill HB89, officially became law in Alaska, representing one of the largest state investments in child care in Alaska&#8217;s history.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Increased funding aimed at expanding child care assistance by $6.1M annually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provision of $2\u20134M in business tax credits to incentivize investment in child care programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognition of the true &#8220;Cost of Care&#8221; for delivering child care services, bridging the gap between costs and state reimbursements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tying funding to quality initiatives to uphold and enhance child care standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Head Start Funding:<\/strong> Governor Dunleavy vetoed half of the $5.2M increase to Head Start passed by the legislature, allowing for a $2.6M increase to the base of the budget. This includes dedicated funding for early childhood. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>City and Borough of Juneau<\/strong> \n\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Established <a href=\"https:\/\/juneau.org\/assembly\/assembly-childcare-committee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assembly Childcare Committee<\/a> in 2018<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/juneau.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/2018-05-03-BS-Packet-Materials.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Best Starts for Juneau&#8217;s Kids<\/a> &#8212; Supported quality improvement incentives for child care.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>HEARTS Program &#8211; A salary incentive directly to child care and pre-school teachers for taking training classes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>KinderReady expansion &#8212;
