We believe that Alaskans have the right to maintain their cultural heritage and close relationship to the land while protecting their economic and human potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our programs in early education, housing, and health and well-being serve to alleviate the root causes of poverty. We deliver innovative, community-driven solutions in response to Alaska\u2019s most challenging needs while supporting vulnerable individuals and communities statewide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>JOB SUMMARY:&nbsp;&nbsp;Provides high quality early care and learning experiences for young children, ages 19 months to 5 years. Plans a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum for children which follows the standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plans, teaches, and implements the program for the children in accordance with the Child Development Center\u2019s policies and procedures and the standards set forth by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develops and posts weekly lesson plans in a timely manner.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Administers a developmental screening and ongoing assessment process for children resulting in an Individual Learning Plan to meet the needs of individual children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures classroom environment is interactive and reflects cultural and socioeconomic background of the children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensures a safe and healthy classroom environment which includes an orderly room arrangement, a variety of age appropriate materials supporting all domains of development, and is free of hazardous conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helps to promote positive social emotional interaction among children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develops, promotes and maintains positive relationships with enrolled families which include the sharing of classroom activities, developmental progress for children, and Parent\/Teacher Conferences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourages parental involvement in setting individual goals for children and volunteering in the classroom.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides guidance to classroom volunteers and teacher assistants to ensure classroom curriculum and schedules are followed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Required to attend all monthly staff meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists with public relations events sponsored by the Center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performs other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>WORK ACTIVITIES:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with children, families, staff, and others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides the primary leadership role for planning and implementation of age and culturally appropriate activities and supervision of an assigned group of children that promotes their social and emotional development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provides guidance and support to lower range staff to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintains classroom in accordance with all applicable health and safety regulations and standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifies the educational needs of children through observation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>POSITION TYPE\/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or hours vary with location.&nbsp; Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TRAVEL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travel is primarily local during the business day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS AND REQUIRED EDUCATION:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be at least 18 years of age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must pass Municipality of Anchorage, state and federal background checks, including fingerprints.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must have an AA in Early Childhood Education.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must pursue an ongoing professional development plan including formal training certification or college degree as recommended by the program.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must complete and maintain Pediatric CPR and First Aid Training certification at employer\u2019s expense.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must obtain Alaska Food Workers\u2019 Card within 30 days of hire with follow-up every three (3) years at employer\u2019s expense.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must provide a TB screening and basic physical exam within thirty (30) days of hire with follow-up every three (3) years at employee\u2019s expense.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must attend 24 hours of professional development training annually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must complete new hire orientation within three months from date of hire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must complete the State of Alaska Health and Safety requirements within three months from the date of hire.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrated intermediate level of computer skills necessary in order to use and create documents and reports, spreadsheets, workshop materials and slide presentations, and to enter data into intricate database programs and proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must keep all matters concerning participants in strictest confidence as required by HIPAA privacy and the 42 CFR, Part II confidentiality regulations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proven ability and willingness to be self-directed in problem solving and decision-making and perform basic assignment with little or no direct supervision while also working effectively as a team member.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Responsible work ethic with reliable attendance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Must be able to provide own transportation to meet work schedule requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advanced Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of child development from prenatal to five years of age.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of parenting and related issues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","jobs_category":[38],"class_list":["post-41119","jobs","type-jobs","status-publish","hentry","jobs_category-non-thread"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.0 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Early Childhood Teacher - Thread<\/title>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.threadalaska.org\/jobs\/early-childhood-teacher-2\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"Early Childhood Teacher - Thread\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"The Rural Alaska Community Action Program, Inc., (RurAL CAP), founded in 1965, is a private, statewide, nonprofit organization working to improve the quality of life for low-income Alaskans.
