Roles and responsibilities:

  • House and manage Alaska SEED as fiscal sponsor
  • Act as lead implementation arm including providing required training, technical assistance, coaching, assessments and verifications, financial supports, alignment and infrastructure of Alaska SEED
  • Maintain Alaska SEED’s website, resources, and outreach materials
  • Work in partnership with regulatory bodies
  • Serve as a liaison to funders for Alaska SEED
Alaska SEED Career Ladder Subcommittee

Membership includes:

  • Reviews the Alaska SEED Career Ladder on a biennial basis and updates as needed.
  • Reviews, develops, and implements credentials.
  • Ensures credentialed early childhood and school-age educators reflect the diversity of the children and families served.
Registry & Workforce Data Subcommittee

Membership includes:

  • Aligns the Alaska SEED Registry with national standards using the National Workforce Registry Alliance’s Peer Eligibility Review as the standard of excellence for the Alaska SEED Registry’s best practice standards, core data elements, and partner requirements.
  • Assists with SEED Career Ladder level appeals as outlined in the SEED Policies and Procedures Manual on an as-needed basis.
  • Utilizes workforce data to establish connections with information sources related to professional development, professional development system trends, research, and policy.
  • Synthesizes available information, trends, research, and policy around issues critical to professional development and professional development systems. 
Relationship-Based Professional Development Systems Design Team

Membership includes:

  • Aligns with synergies between Alaska Native Traditional Knowledge and Relationship-Based Professional Development.

Trainer and Training Approval System Subcommittee

Membership includes:

  • Assists with the development of the Trainer/Training Approval System to standardize and improve the quality of trainers and training available to early childhood and school-age educators.
Core Knowledge and Competencies (CKC) Subcommittee

Membership includes:

  • Developed the CKC. Assists with public presentations on CKC. Promotes and seeks endorsements.
  • Updates the CKC as needed.
Governance Subcommittee

Membership includes:

  • Develops and maintains well-defined processes and protocols to support the Alaska SEED Steering Committee decision-making.
Fund Development

Membership includes:

  • Creates financing and advocacy strategies to increase capacity and retention of early childhood and school-age educators.
Marketing & Outreach

Membership includes:

  • Develops topics for marketing and outreach that inform and promote SEED and its benefits.
Professional Development/PDTR

Membership includes:

  • Assists with development of eligibility criteria, reviews application forms, and recommends funding categories and amounts.
Coaching and Design

Membership includes:

  • Assist the statewide Coaching and Design team with implementing the strategic plan.
Compensation

Membership includes:

  • Creates strategies to address compensation and benefit standards at parity with kindergarten teachers.
Ad Hoc Subcommittees

Membership includes:

  • Ad Hoc Subcommittees may be formed for a specific task or objective, and dissolved after the completion of the task or achievement of the objective.
