Governor Mike Dunleavy has proclaimed Feb. 26, 2021 as Child Care Provider Day throughout Alaska.
The governor’s proclamation recognizes that child care is critical to Alaska’s infrastructure and a vital resource that supports working families and strengthens the workforce.
Gov. Dunleavy noted that COVID-19 has created an ever-expanding demand for child care options as many Alaskans continue to work through the pandemic. He also wrote that while some programs, schools and after-school programs have experienced closures, many child care programs continue to support families by staying open and implementing new procedures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 while still providing this vital service.
“Alaska’s future depends on the quality of the early childhood experiences provided to you children today,” the proclamation continues, “and the continuation of high-quality early child care services represents a worthy commitment to our children’s future.”
thread thanks the governor for recognizing the important work of early childhood educators in Alaska.
