The following broadcast was released by the Alaska Child Care Program Office on Jan. 6, 2022
We’re pleased to provide advance notice that Phase 2 – Child Care Stabilization Grants will be available on January 26th. Once again, the Child Care Program Office (CCPO) is partnering with thread, Alaska’s Child Care Resource & Referral Network, to administer the second phase of grants. We thank providers and stakeholders who provided input on the use of federal relief funds and our process.
As you know we awarded $5 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds during Phase 1, which collected provider information to facilitate subsequent phases. We’ll administer approximately $15 million in ARPA funds during Phase 2, which will be awarded by licensed capacity for:
- Licensed homes, group homes, and school-age only programs at $650 per child
- Licensed child care centers at $1,100 per child
The amount per child for each program is set to meet the self-reported stabilization need based on provider data received during the first phase.
Awards will also include flat rate bonuses for programs participating in Learn and Grow and the Child Care Assistance Program, in keeping with our objective to improve affordability and quality for families.
Like Phase 1 providers must meet federal requirements to be eligible for an award. If you are temporarily closed, there will be additional information required in the application to determine eligibility or amounts for Phase 2.
thread will continue to offer assistance for providers during Phase 2 through technical assistance, updated FAQs, and application support. Please refer to thread’s website for updates and information at https://www.threadalaska.org/, and to thread staff with questions at covidrelief@threadalaska.org.
Thank you for your continuing commitment to Alaska’s children and families.
