The following broadcast was released by the Alaska Child Care Program Office on Oct. 6, 2021
The Child Care Program Office (CCPO) is currently processing Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) payments to child care providers for the service months of August and September 2021. To avoid delay, CCPO is issuing CCAP payments using the same amounts for the service month of July 2021 for providers who have not yet received CCAP payments for August or September 2021. Providers should expect to receive payments for August and September between now and the end of next week. This interim measure became necessary because of continuing system outages from the cyberattack against the Department of Health and Social Services this spring. We apologize for any inconvenience and will reconcile corrected payment amounts once system access is restored.
This action is consistent with the CCPO’s obligation under the Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) to review and reconcile CCAP payments. It requires no further action from providers. We will provide additional information regarding the process of reconciling overpayments, underpayments, and non-payments as soon as possible. In the meantime, CCPO will send providers their copy of the July 2021 CCAP Request for Payment form, to use for recordkeeping and as a reference in the event any reconciliation of CCAP payments is needed for July, August, or September.
The CCPO hopes this action helps allay concerns providers may have about delays in CCAP payments for the service months of August and September.
Thank you for your patience with this situation and for caring for Alaska’s children and families.
