Child care advocates got a big update last week when a new proposal by Senators Patty Murray (WA) and Tim Kaine (VA) was published. This proposal could finally make the federal investments in child care that advocates like you have been pushing for. Their plan would provide multi-year funding for child care and early learning and expand access to child care to more than a million new children and their families through avenues such as:
Investments in the current Child Care and Development Block Grant system:
- Supply and compensation grants for child care programs;
- Grants to states for high-quality preschool;
- And investments in raising wages for Head Start teachers.
