Foundations of the Pyramid Model Series Juneau

The vision of the Alaska Pyramid project is that all young children and their families have strong social and emotional foundations enhanced and strengthened through a caring network of parents, professionals, and community members. This training is based on the Pyramid Teaching Model from the Center on the Social Emotional Foundations of Early Learning and is appropriate for parents and early childhood providers.

This class addresses promoting social emotional competency in children birth through five years of age. Learn to prevent challenging behaviors and to teach appropriate social skills and healthy emotional expression. Participants will receive 15 hours of credit in multiple CDA content areas. The cost for this workshop is $75.00 for the series. We are also offering this course for one credit through the UAF. The cost for the credit is $175.00 in addition to the class registration fees.

Participants seeking college credit will need to be present and active participants in all of the classes. A letter grade will be given based on participation and submission of homework. Registration forms will be available at the class.

When you register for this course, you register for a 7 week series.

Classes will be held from 6pm - 8pm on Tuesday evenings on the following dates:

January 7: Overview of the Pyramid Model - Defining Social Emotional Development

January 14: Social Emotional Development within the Context of Relationships

January 21: Ways that Children Communicate their Needs

January 28: Designing and Assessing Environments

February 4: Developing Social and Emotional Competence

February 11: Creating a Plan for a Child Demonstrating Persistent Challenging Behaviors

February 18: Make and Take Activity *(Note: time extended, 6pm - 9pm) *
