Making Creativity Part of Every Day Learning Experiences

Ann Kohl, a strong advocate for creativity in early education writes, “There’s no doubt about it: Creativity is as natural and necessary for children as fresh air and sunshine! By exposing children to creative experiences, we give them the gift of a rich and memorable childhood while laying the foundation for a lifetime of creative expression – all topped off with a heaping helping of important learning skills.”

What do young children learn through creativity and why should we include creative learning in our programs? Creativity is about thinking, exploring, discovering, and imagining and these aspects of creative thought can be encouraged easily in a learning environment where teachers respect children’s ideas and help them to learn to think for themselves.

Fostering creativity makes teaching more rewarding and can be a springboard to inquisitiveness and deep and meaningful learning.  Come and be exposed to creative experiences, and engage in a discussion about what we can do to help creativity take hold in the lives of the children in our care.
