thread is proud to host the 4th annual Book Party in the Park on Friday, August 6th from 4-7pm at the Garden Art Park located at 3350 Commercial Drive in Anchorage.
"We are excited for the upcoming Book Party," says thread CEO Stephanie Berglund, who promoted the event on KFAT radio's (92.2 FM) Morning Chaos program. "thread's mission is about quality early learning and one important part of early education is learning how to read."
thread's Book Party will feature free books for all kids that attend the event, story time with the Anchorage Public Library, live children's music with local group Filddle De Dee, arts and crafts activities, healthy snacks and special guests including Senator Mark Begich and State Senator Bill Wielechowski.
The event is sponsored by community partners like Borders, Fred Meyer stores in Anchorage, ConocoPhillips Alaska, Credit Union 1, REI, HDR Inc. and local radio stations KFAT and KNBA.
"The Book Party is a success each year because of the strong commitment by our partners and business leaders around quality early learning," Berglund says. "And, the generousity of our community -- Anchorage residents donated over 5,000 books during the book drive leading up to this event."
At the Book Party, thread will also be highlighting their 25th anniversary of promoting quality early care and learning in Alaska by unveiling a calendar of twenty-five events which will be held throughout the winter.
"Our anniversary theme is Growing through Generations and the Book Party is a great way to kick off celebrating how families and generations of families can learn together, like through reading books and sharing stories," Berglund said.
