Summer School Isn’t Just for Kids Anymore!
July 07, 2010

thread is highlighting several trainings designed for early educators and center directors this summer.

“We know summer can be a challenging time for folks to try and fit in training,” says Kathy Kline, thread’s Director of Professional Development. “thread’s upcoming summer trainings will feature special presenters and topics that might not be included during the rest of the calendar year.”

For example, thread is proud to host educators like Lenetta Colbert, director at Open Arms Child Development Center in Fairbanks who will be presenting in July at the thread offices in Anchorage. Lenetta will present Fun with Portfolio Basics and Grant Writing with a Passion!

At the thread offices in Wasilla, check out : Maintaining a Commitment to Professionalism > Professional Responsibilities. This training designed for administrative staff and family child care providers highlights how to encourage staff to share new information about quality child care with their peers. Also in Wasilla this August, thread will be offering a training called Use Your Words: Talking with Children.

In Juneau, at thread's southeast Alaska office, the AYEC-SEA is offering Strategies to Manage an Effective Program Operation. Come learn about what technical assistance is and how it can help you and your program meet goals for professional development and program quality.

Also in August, the Anchorage Association for the Education of Young Children is sponsoring Bradley Smith from the National Institute of Child Care Management who will be conducting a credentialed training for child care directors. He will be presenting at the BP Energy Center in Anchorage. To register for this training, please visit www.niccm.com or for more information, contact 1-602-476-1422.
