Medication Administration in Early Care & Education
Medication is usually given at home by the child’s family but while at the child care facility it may be necessary for an early educator to administer these medications. Designed to support early educators who are not licensed health care professionals, the curriculum provided by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) provides strategies for how to receive, store, administer and document the medication and includes information on recognizing adverse reactions to medications and the importance of developing program policies for their administration.
