New Support for Early Education Includes Wage Incentives, Cribs

Governor Parnell signed into law three budget bills for fiscal year 2013 that include support for early education in Alaska, including a wage incentive program for early educators, funding to help child care providers replace outdated cribs and support for Anchorage Imagination Library.

Volunteer with thread!

With the help of many incredible volunteer parents and friends who have given generously of their time, thread is able to direct cash support to programs and initiatives that reach more families, communities and early educators and child care centers across Alaska.

**NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY TO BECOME AN AMERICORPS VOLUNTEER WITH thread!

Recently, thread received support from AmeriCorps Alaska to expand Strengthening Families to reach more families and early care and education programs in Anchorage, Alaska. thread is seeking 10 AmeriCorps members to serve at selected early care and education host program sites around Anchorage.   • Join our Parent TALKs: September through May
  • Help hand out books at thread's annual Book Party in the Park
  • Participate in one of many on-going special and community events in a community near you
  • Learn great office skills as our Fundraising and Marketing assistant
  • Be a part of our advocacy group and help us spread the word about the importance of quality early care and education

  • Come help at Family Day at the Tanana Valley State Fair (in August)

  • Lend a hand to one of our thread regional trainers. They need help setting up for workshops, getting materials ready & copied! (some evening participation).
  • Help organize and update our Lending Library!
  • March with us, be a part of our advocacy group and help us spread the word about the importance of Early Childhood Education.
  • Help us prepare for our annual AEYC Conference held each year in March.
  • General Office Assistance is always appreciated (filing, answering phones, copying, sending out flyers).
