New Support for Early Education Includes Wage Incentives, Cribs

Governor Parnell signed into law three budget bills for fiscal year 2013 that include support for early education in Alaska, including a wage incentive program for early educators, funding to help child care providers replace outdated cribs and support for Anchorage Imagination Library.

State of Alaska Child and Adult Care Food Program: The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a program that provides healthy meals and snacks to children and adults receiving day care. It plays a vital role in improving the quality of day care and making it healthy meals more affordable for low-income families.

Anchorage Association for the Education of Young Children (AAEYC): The Anchorage Association for the Education of Young Children (Anchorage AEYC) leads families, professionals, policy makers, and members of our communities to promote a vision of all young children living and learning in a diverse and supportive world.

Child Care Aware - How to get started: Resources for prospective child care providers and information on how to: develop a business plan, prepare a budget, manage a CCP, market their CCP, and more!

National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC): National membership organization working with the more than 400 state and local family child care providers associations in the United State. The focus of NAFCC is to promote quality family child care through accreditation and to promote training and leadership development through specialized technical assistance.

National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC): NAEYC's programs and policies help child care providers, parents and children.

National Child Care Association: National Child Care Association represents the private, licensed early childhood care and education community. NCCA has a dual advocacy for quality, affordable child care as well as the business of child care.

National Childhood Training Center: This site is sponsored by the Early Childhood Training Center, Portland State University. This group provides training and technical assistance to programs serving children birth through eight and their families. They also provide links to various other sites.

The Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition: Headquartered in Washington, DC, the Council's mission is to increase the status and recognition of early care and education professionals who care for children birth through 5 years of age in child care centers, family child care homes, and as home visitors.

State of Alaska Infant Learning Program: The State of Alaska's Infant Learning Program (ILP) is one of Alaska's leading resources on the first three years of life. ILP's aim is to strengthen and support families to promote the healthy development of infants and toddlers with special needs.

Stone Soup Group: They sustain the health and well being of Alaskan children with special health care needs and their families. Through listening to the stories of families, they identify areas of need and work with communities to find solutions.
