Summer is a time for family fun with thread!
During the summer months in Alaska, thread hosts and joins many community events throughout the state which include everything from activities for dads to street fairs - fun stuff for the entire family. "We know summer is a great time to get outdoors with your family after long winter months in Alaska," said Stephanie Berglund, thread's CEO. "Summer is also a time we support families getting together to read books and having fun while learning, in your own communities with your neighbors and friends." Coming up in Juneau and in celebration of Father's Days, thread's partnering office at AEYC - SEA will showcase The Evolution of Dad, a documentary exploring award-winning filmmaker Dana Glazer's own journey of fatherhood. All fathers, families and community members are invited to join thread / AYEC -SEA on June 16th at the Goldtown Nickelodon Theater in downtown Juneau. thread in Anchorage also just launched a community-wide book drive in preparation for this summer's annual Book Party in the Park. thread will be accepting donations of gently used or new children's books at various public locations, including all Anchorage Fred Meyer Stores beginning in July. thread hosts the event in partnership with Senator Wielechowski (D-Anchorage). "Reading to children is a critical component of healthy brain development, and it's a great opportunity to connect with your children and have quality time," says Senator Wielechowski. "Each year we receive generous support from the community, including many book donations from families," said Sarah Leonard, thread's Director of Marketing and Fund Development. "We also are grateful for the support from our corporate partners like ConocoPhillips Alaska, First National Bank Alaska, Credit Union 1 and Fred Meyer Stores. The Book Party in the Park is a success because of this commitment to early education from our partners and the community." In the Northern / Interior region, thread's partners at Thrivalaska will be hosting an open-house to highlight Child Care Assistance services on July 20th. Families can enjoy food, face-painting and games. Visit thread's community events page to learn more about summer activities in your community. |
