Support for Military Familiesthread, along with Child Care Aware of America and military partners, is working to increase quality community-based support to military families with increased child care opportunities. thread works with Alaska's military-rich communities, including Anchorage, Eagle River, Fairbanks and North Pole. NEW! Exceptional Family Member Program, Respite CareThe National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies or NACCRRA has partnered with the United States Air Force (USAF) to launch a new program that will provide respite care to Air Force families with children with special needs. The USAF EFMP Respite Care service in Alaska is offered through thread. Through this program, eligible Air Force families may receive up to 20 hours of respite care per month at no cost to the family. Respite care services in Alaska will be provided by qualified providers who are recruited, screened and trained in caring for children with special needs by thread. Funding for Child CareIn some cases, funding may be available through a partnership with Child Care Aware of America and the Department of Defense to help with the costs of child care.
