Who is Eligible for the Award: The Cindy Harrington Heart & Mind Award is meant to honor an individual whose continued work in the early care & learning field has demonstrated a commitment to professional growth despite hardships or challenges and embodies an overall generosity of spirit in helping others. This early educator is someone who continues to defy barriers in an effort to pave a better and brighter future for the young children of Alaska. This award is not intended for someone just starting their career, but rather is meant to honor an individual who has been working in the early care & learning field, especially child care, for a number of years.
Recognition Description: The award will be presented to the recipient at the Anchorage AEYC Early Childhood Conference in January 2018 during the general session. The recipient will receive the Cindy Harrington Heart & Mind Award and a monetary award of $1,000.00. They will also be featured on thread's website and in thread's newsletter, as well as in a press release to the media.
Nominees should be individuals currently employed in the early care & learning field in Alaska who exhibit the following characteristics as demonstrated through their work with young children:
Nomination Process: Nominations can be made by anyone familiar with the nominee’s contribution to the early care and learning field. The nomination form can be completed and emailed as an attachment to Rebecca Sentner, firstname.lastname@example.org. Nominations will be accepted until noon on November 30, 2017. All nominations forms must be fully completed at the time of submissions to be considered. Both nominator and nominee will remain anonymous during the slection process. Selections will be made by the awards committee and based soley on the nomination submitted.
