Every voice counts...make your voice count today.

We have an important role in educating the public and our elected officials about the challenges families in Alaska face in finding quality early care and education programs. Sharing our stories, whether we are parents, early educators or community members is one way to make our voices heard. Telling these personal stories about the challenges of finding quality child care while seeking employment; or building relationships with care providers that are helping raise our children, are just two examples of how we can make the sometime complexity of these issues come to life. When a hardship or inspirational story touches someone into action, we know we've made a difference!

Sharing your story and:
  • Read and pass along these 2012 public policy priorities in  "Investing in Alaska's Young Children."
  • Join thread on Facebook and tell one person each day how you make children and family a priority in your own life!
  • Sign up for thread's Parent Action Center which brings parents from communities across Alaska together to advocate for increased access to affordable, high quality early care and education opportunities for all children. You can help by getting involved and letting local and national leaders know that quality early care and education is important to you and your community. Take action today!
  • Send in your own personal story to thread and we will share it in different ways, through our website, or newsletters and through the media. Your stories about the challenges or inspiring moments of your child's experiences in early education help make difficult and often complex policy issues understandable to a broader audience. Email your story to: sleonard@threadalaska.org and put "My Story" in the subject line of your email.
