Last week the Senate passed the Child Care and Development Block Grant Act by a vote of 96-2. The Alaska legislative session is underway, and it is especially important this year to make sure the need for early childhood education support is heard across the state. Research shows that participation in quality early childhood programs has long-term benefits for all children. Yet, only 1 in 5 children benefit from participation in some level of early childhood services. To take action for change, the Alaska Early Childhood Advocacy Group today released "The Alaska Early Care and Learning: Public Policy Priorities for 2014."  This document recommends priorities for legislative action in 2014 to support early care and learning.
